Maybe it seems premature to already be changing the name of our blog, but after our group tossed around some ideas, we realized that Fusion might more accurately describe our group than the merely geographical description, Way out West.
You may have already noticed in our previous post or on the "About us" page that the ethnic diversity of our group is astounding. In addition to four or five American-born members, our group has representation from Singapore (our host!), Peru, Brazil, and Serbia. And that's just for the Bible study nights. During other get-togethers, we've seen faces from Canada, Malaysia, and Germany, too!
And then if that's not enough diversity, we've got single people and married people, as well as ages spread between an empty nester and a five-month-old baby.
So, I guess Fusion is the best way to describe our collision of cultures, experiences, and life stages. We celebrate our diversity, not merely for the sake of itself, but because in meeting so many different types of people, we learn so much about God's love for all people. We can glean wisdom from those who have "been there" and "done that." And then our comfort zones -- and our hearts -- grow just a little bit wider.
